Information regarding equipment, outfits, costumes, and the Starstone system in Twin Saga.
All characters are able to equip five pieces of armor, plus three pieces of accessories and two trinkets. Equipment does not have appearances; rather, appearances are given by outfits or costumes.
The five types of armor able to be worn are Head, Chest, Waist, Hand, and Foot armor. Most pieces of head and chest armor provide set bonuses when both are equipped, and are colloquially named "top" armor by many players. Likewise, most pieces of waist, hand, and foot armor provide set completion bonuses, and are called "bottom" armor.
Accessories are first available at level 55, and also provide additional stats.
Trinkets are items that drop from elite monsters, dungeon bosses, and world bosses throughout the land. Certain trinkets may be crafted using trinkets from dungeon bosses as a base, or purchased from Reputation merchants in The Royal City of Arcadia.
- Main article: Gear Evolution
Gear Evolution is a feature used to upgrade equipment and provide additional stat bonuses by consuming evolution scrolls. Ten successful fortifications constitute one Star Level, with each successful fortification providing a modest stat increase, and every Star Level providing larger bonuses.
For every failed attempt at gear evolution, Potential will build up. If an item's potential reaches 100, evolution will automatically succeed.
Gear Evolution Scrolls can be used to evolve a piece of equipment up to +20, or Star Level 2. Advanced Gear Evolution Scrolls can be used to evolve a piece of equipment up to +50, or Star Level 5. Different evolution scrolls are used for accessory evolution, namely, the Accessory Evolution Scroll and Advanced Accessory Evolution Scroll.
- Main article: Gear Fusion
Gear Fusion is a feature used to increase the fusion boost of equipment. Fusion boost is a multiplicative increase to the basic (fusion boost 100%) stat values on a piece of equipment. When gear is first acquired, its fusion boost is randomized. If you have multiple copies of the same item, or an Armor/Weapon EXP Crystal, they can be fused into a single item with enhanced stats.
The increase in fusion bonus is dependent on the existing percentages on component items; a lower fusion bonus will provide lower fusion progress, and a higher fusion bonus will provide greater fusion progress. Consuming low-fusion bonus items to upgrade high-fusion bonus items produces the same effect as consuming high-fusion bonus items to upgrade low-fusion bonus items, so it would be well-advised to prioritize the base item's fixed stats rather than fusion bonus.
Caution! If an evolved item is consumed in Gear Fusion, its evolution will not transfer, and will instead be lost.
Outfits and CostumesEdit
Outfits and costumes are items that are able to determine your character's appearance.
Two types of outfits are able to be worn: Head and Body outfits. Outfits can be obtained in certain storyline quests. Other outfits can also be crafted in the Crafting Table of the Terracottage, and outfit formulas can be obtained by finding random chests that spawn in Meridia. If both outfit and costume appearances are enabled, costume appearances will override outfit appearances.
Five types of costumes are available to be worn: Head, Face, Body, Back, and Weapon costumes. Costumes can be obtained from the Item Mall, Loyalty Shop, the Astral Puzzle, world bosses, Community Chests, Band of Brawlers bosses, and even certain quests. Orange-quality costumes can be previewed in the item mall's Dressing Room tab.
- Main article: Starstone
Starstones are items used to boost one's attributes and abilities. Starstones can be made through alchemical synthesis, or obtained through monster drops and quests.
Up to 12 different Starstones can be equipped for one class, composed of 3 different shapes (Trigon, Diamond, and Orb) and 4 different colors (red, green, blue, yellow). While each class can equip their own Starstones, different classes can also share the same ones.
Starstones can be evolved to unlock greater star levels and receive additional bonuses. Starstone Evolution Crystals are required for evolution and can be obtained by defeating monsters. For further information about these crystals, refer to Starstone Evolution Crystal.
To evolve a Starstone, open the Starstone menu (P) and click Evolve. Select the Starstone you wish to evolve, verify that you have the appropriate materials for evolution, then confirm. Voilà!
In addition to evolution, Starstones can also be refined using Starstone EXP. Starstone EXP is obtained through fishing or gathering, through Starstone Crystals, and through Starstone Recycling, discussed below. For further information about Starstone Crystals, refer to Starstone Crystal.
To refine a Starstone, open the Starstone menu (P) and click Refine. Select the Starstone you wish to evolve, and choose whether you would like to refine the Starstone one time, or to its maximum boost.
Starstone recycling is an easy way of removing unneeded or unwanted Starstones from the Starstone Reservoir, while gaining Starstone EXP.
To recycle a Starstone, open the Starstone menu (P) and click Recycle. Your cursor will change, and you will be able to click Starstones to recycle. To quit recycling, press Escape, which will also close the Starstone menu, or right-click anywhere.
Beware! Confirmation requests are only prompted if the Starstone you have selected for recycling is currently equipped on another class. If a Starstone is in your Starstone Reservoir but is not equipped on any class, you will not be prompted and the Starstone will simply be recycled, should you click on it while in Recycling mode.
